On my last trip to California, I enjoyed the simple pleasures of poking around in my mom's garden in Oceanside. She's spent years landscaping, pruning, trimming, plucking, digging, planting, weeding, and watering this beautiful and serene escape from the cookie cutter terracotta suburbia.

Different creatures have visited ranging from birds, snakes, lizards, opossums, owls, hawks, rabbits, gophers and some have even made homes here and has registered her yard as a Certified Wildlife Habitat. But what intrigued me the most during my short visit was the new arrival of two new swarms of honey bees.

Inspired by these busy little bees, I enjoyed the an afternoon sitting at the table in my mom's kitchen, smelling the familiar aromas of her greatly missed home cooked meals, and shopping on Etsy for bee inspired goodies. Although my stay there was short, I was able to relax and do some creative recharging.
